Before you can run an evaluation, Lernmark needs a simple picture of how your school is organized. You build that picture on the Academic setup screen. This lets the system match each student to the right classes and teachers when the evaluation runs.
You only build this once. In later terms you reuse it.
Open Academic setup
From the dashboard, go to Academic setup. Its description reads: "Set up your school's structure: campuses, departments, programmes, levels, class sections, and school years." The screen has a row of tabs: one for each building block below. Work through them left to right.
The building blocks
Each block sits inside the one before it, from the whole school down to a single class group.

A note on wording
Different schools use different words for the same idea: "programme" instead of "course of study", "level" instead of "year", and so on. Lernmark uses the neutral words above throughout. Match them to your own school's language as you read.
Step by step
- Add your departments. Open the Departments tab and create one entry per department. Keep the names short and recognizable.
- Add your programmes. On the Programmes tab, create the courses of study your students follow, and link each to its department.
- Add your levels. On the Levels tab, create the stages or years students progress through.
- Add your class sections. On the Sections tab, create the actual groups of students. A section places students within a programme and level, which is what lets the evaluation reach the right people.
- Create the school year. On the School years tab, create the term you are evaluating and set its start and end dates. This is the time period the evaluation belongs to.
Keep it minimal at first
You only need enough structure to describe the classes you plan to evaluate. You can add more departments, programmes, and sections later as you grow.
