This guide covers the whole Lernmark platform: the school-management and administration system that runs your institution day to day. It takes you from opening your workspace through the core workflows your staff use every week.
It is written for administrators and other school staff, not developers. Every screen, term, and step is explained in plain language, and collected in the Glossary.
Just here for teacher evaluation?
If you only want to collect student feedback on teachers, you do not need the whole platform. Use the shorter Teacher Evaluation guide instead. This guide links to it wherever the two overlap.
What the platform includes
Lernmark brings the parts of running a school onto one system:
- Admissions: take in applicants and turn them into students.
- Students and enrollment: keep your student records and class lists.
- Academics: describe your school and build your course catalog and timetable.
- Teaching and learning: share materials, set assignments, and record grades.
- Attendance: take daily attendance.
- Exams and results: grade exams and publish report cards.
- Finance: bill fees, take payments, and track what is owed.
- Communications: send announcements.
- Certificates: issue and verify credentials.
- Evaluation: collect anonymous feedback on teaching (see the Essential guide).
- Analytics: see trends across all of the above.
Which of these you see depends on your edition (your plan) and your role. If something in this guide is not part of your edition, it simply will not appear in your workspace.
Who does what
| Role | Typical tasks |
|---|---|
| Administrator | Sets up and runs a single school: academics, people, finance, and more. |
| Teacher | Teaches classes: materials, attendance, grades, and exams for their own classes. |
| Student | Studies: views materials, submits work, and sees results and certificates. |
The recommended setup order
New institutions usually work through the platform in this order. Each page links to the next.
- Set up your institution: open your workspace and add your profile, brand, and letterhead.
- Roles, staff and access: invite administrators and set who can do what.
- Academic structure: describe your school.
- Courses and timetable: build your catalog and schedule.
- Admissions: bring applicants in.
- Students and enrollment: enroll students in classes.
- Then the day-to-day workflows: teaching, attendance, exams, communications, finance, and certificates.
When you are ready, start with Set up your institution.
