The Student registry is where your student records live. Its description reads: "Manage student profiles, enrollments, and roster imports in one place." A roster is your list of students.
The three tabs
- Students: each student's profile (name and matricule).
- Enrollments: which students belong to which class sections this session.
- Import: add many students at once from a file. Available on some editions.
Add students
You have three routes, depending on where the students come from:
- From admissions. Students you admit and convert arrive here automatically; see Admissions.
- By import. On the Import tab, upload your roster file to create many profiles at once.
- By hand. On the Students tab, add students individually.
Seat usage
If your edition includes a set number of student places (seats), the registry shows how many you have used, so you always know your remaining capacity.
Enroll students in classes
A profile records who a student is; an enrollment puts them in the class sections they actually take this session. On the Enrollments tab, enroll each student in the right section. Enrollment is what connects a student to their timetable, attendance, grades, fees, and (if you use it) evaluations.
How students log in
Students log in without an email address. Each student activates their account once with a one-time activation code you provide, then logs in with your school code, their matricule, and a password they choose. This is the same process described in the Essential guide: Add students and access codes covers it in full.
What you achieved
- Your students are recorded, whether admitted, imported, or added by hand.
- Each student is enrolled in the right class sections.
- Students can activate their accounts and log in safely.
