Lernmark includes a learning space for each class, where teachers share materials, set assignments, and run discussions, and where students find their work. Teachers work in Course content; students see Course materials.
Availability
The learning space is included on some editions. If you do not see it, it is not part of your current plan.
For teachers: publish content
Teachers open Course content, described as: "Author modules, materials, and assignments for a course offering, then publish them for enrolled students." A few terms:
- A module is a section of a course that groups related materials, like a unit or a week.
- A material is a document, link, or file you share with the class.
- Publish means make it visible to enrolled students. Until you publish, students do not see it, so you can prepare in private.
Teachers work within the classes they teach, reached from My Classes, which lists their offerings with quick links to content, attendance, and the schedule.
Assignments
An assignment is a task you set for students to complete and hand in. Students see it under Assignments, described as: "See your assignments and submit your work: a written response and/or a file." A student can submit typed text, a file, or both. A progress summary shows each student what they have finished and what is still due.
Discussions
A discussion is a class conversation. Students open Discussions to "ask questions and join the conversation on your courses." It is a simple way to handle questions in one place instead of scattered messages.
Recording grades
Work that is graded feeds the gradebook, the running record of each student's marks for a class. Teachers enter grades against assignments, and those marks contribute to a student's overall picture for the course. Formal exam marks are handled separately in Exams and results.
What students see
Logged-in students find, for each of their classes:
- Course materials: the modules and documents their teachers have published.
- Assignments: what to do, with a place to submit and a progress summary.
- Discussions: the class conversation.
What you achieved
- Teachers can publish materials and set assignments for their classes.
- Students can find materials, submit work, and take part in discussions.
- Graded work is captured for each student.
