Every term used in this guide, defined in plain language. Terms are grouped by theme.
People and access
Administrator: a staff member who sets up and runs the school on Lernmark. Administrators build evaluations, launch them, and read every report.
Teacher: a person who is evaluated. Teachers see feedback about their own classes once results are ready.
Student: a person who gives feedback by answering evaluation questions.
Role: what a person is allowed to see and do: administrator, teacher, or student.
Workspace: your school's private area on Lernmark. Only your people can see your data.
Edition (plan): the package of features your workspace includes. Determines which parts of Lernmark are available to you.
School code: a short code that identifies your school when a student logs in.
Matricule: a student's own identity number at your school, used to log in.
Activation code: a one-time code that lets a student set up their account the first time. It can be used only once.
Structure
Institution: the school itself. Some organizations have more than one.
Campus: a physical branch of an institution.
Department: a grouping of related subjects or staff.
Programme: a course of study students follow, such as a degree or diploma.
Level: a stage or year within a program.
Class section: a specific group of students taught together.
Academic session: the term or year an evaluation belongs to, with a start and end date.
Course: a subject in your catalog, such as "Introduction to Biology".
Offering: a course actually being taught in a session by a particular teacher. Feedback is attached to offerings.
Enrollment: the link that places a student in a class section, making them eligible to evaluate the classes they take.
The evaluation
Template: the reusable form of questions and a rating scale that students answer.
Rating scale: the range of scores used for each question, such as 1 to 5.
Category: a heading that groups related questions, such as "Teaching".
Campaign: one round of evaluation: a template opened to students between a start date and an end date.
Evaluation assignment: one student's task to evaluate one course and teacher.
Anonymity mode: whether answers are separated from student names (Strict) or attached to them (Named).
Anonymous: answers are separated from names, so no one can tell who said what.
Structured sections: the labelled comment areas: Strengths, Suggestions, Concerns, and Additional notes.
Running and reading it
Participants: the set of student-and-teacher pairings Lernmark generates for a campaign from enrollments and offerings.
Participation rate: the share of students who have responded.
Moderation: reviewing comments and replies before they appear in reports.
Disclosed: results are large enough to show safely, so they are visible.
Withheld: results are hidden because the group is too small to keep students anonymous.
Anonymity threshold: the minimum number of responses a class needs before its results are shown.
Cohort: the group of students in one class, used when deciding whether results can be shown.
Export: a downloadable copy of results, such as a CSV, JSON, or PDF file.
