A campaign is one round of evaluation: a template, opened to your students for a set period of time. When you publish a campaign, students can start answering. You create campaigns on the Evaluations screen, under the Campaigns tab.
Create a campaign
- Go to Evaluations and select the Campaigns tab.
- Choose New campaign. A panel opens titled "Create evaluation campaign." It explains: "Open an evaluation template over a date window. Students and their course teachers are matched automatically when you generate participants: no per-course setup required." In other words, you do not pair students with teachers by hand: Lernmark does it for you from the enrollments and offerings you set up earlier.
Fill in the campaign
The form is grouped into a few short sections.
Campaign
- Name: a clear title, for example "End of term 1: course feedback".
- Evaluation template: choose the template you built in the previous step.
- Academic session: choose the term this campaign belongs to.
Schedule
- Opens on: the date students can start answering.
- Closes on: the date the evaluation stops accepting answers.
Options
- Status: Draft while you prepare, Published when you are ready for students to begin.
- Anonymity mode: Strict keeps every answer separated from the student's name. Named attaches names. For honest feedback, most schools use Strict.
- Allow comments: turn on to let students add written comments, not just scores.
- Auto notifications: turn on to let Lernmark remind students automatically.
Anonymity is a promise to your students
If you tell students their feedback is anonymous, use Strict and keep it that way. Lernmark also withholds results for very small groups (see Monitor and moderate) so that no one can be identified from a handful of answers.
Generate participants
Before or when you publish, you generate participants. This is the moment Lernmark works out exactly which student should evaluate which teacher, based on who is enrolled in which class. Each of these pairings is an evaluation assignment: one student's task to evaluate one course and teacher.
A launch checklist
Before you set the status to Published, confirm:
- Your template is active and says what you want to ask.
- Your offerings each have the correct teacher assigned.
- Your students are enrolled in the right class sections.
- The opens on and closes on dates are correct.
- The anonymity mode matches what you have promised students.
When everything checks out, set the status to Published. The campaign is now live: within its date window students will see their assignments and can begin.
Campaign states
A campaign moves through a few states, shown on the Campaigns tab:
| State | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Draft | Being prepared; students cannot see it. |
| Published | Live within its date window; students can respond. |
| Closed | The window has ended; no new responses are accepted. |
| Archived | Kept for the record and tidied out of the active list. |
What you achieved
- You created a campaign from your template.
- You set the dates, anonymity, and comment options.
- Participants were generated and the campaign is live.
